Don’t miss out on Into the Dark’s newest episode, a sexy gay slasher film called Midnight Kiss. It’s the perfect way to ring in the New Year.

Blumhouse‘s Into the Dark is an entertaining horror anthology that releases a new episode the first Friday of every month. Each episode is based around a particular holiday. The first season of the series was well-received, and it is now four episodes into its second season with a gay slasher flick set on New Year’s Eve.

The latest episode, or movie, is titled Midnight Kiss, and it follows a group of gay friends living it up in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. To make the film even better, Blumhouse hired a gay writer and director in Erlingur Thoroddsen and Carter Smith.

Plus, every character in the main cast is gay and played by gay actors — aside from one straight character and one actor (the first one killed) who isn’t gay in real life.

Not only is “Midnight Kiss” the name of the film, but it is also the name of the game played by the core friend group. Each member gets to pick a random stranger to kiss at midnight, so long as it’s consensual.

Afterward, they can do whatever they want together until dawn. It’s sort of a “hall pass” situation since people in relationships can play the game too.

Unfortunately, what’s supposed to be a fun and wild vacation turns into a bloody nightmare as a masked killer begins to terrorize the group.

Thoroddsen and Smith spoke with Indiewire recently about what it was like for them to work on the movie. About the LGBT content, Thoroddsen told the publication that Blumhouse was incredibly supportive of both he and Smith’s vision.

"“When I started writing, I was very self-conscious about, ‘Oh, I can’t have too much, it can’t be too explicit. It can’t be — quote-unquote — too gay, because they’re going to probably ask me to tone it down.”"

Supposedly Blumhouse told him, “No, no, no, you should make it more sexy, make it more gay.”

The film is terrifically entertaining, and it’s always great to see more inclusive content, especially in horror.
