2. The Last of Us (2013)

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is an action-adventure video game that shoves you into the boots of a smuggler named Joel. Our protagonist must escort Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America, which is proven difficult right off the bat.

The Last of Us is a well-loved game and not necessarily for its inclusion of horror elements. Yes, there are the Infected, zombie-enemies that provide the player with a challenge. But there’s also the amazing storytelling capabilities of Naughty Dog. The Last of Us gut punches us in the emotions from the very beginning and doesn’t let go until the credits roll.

1. P.T. (2014)

Mentioning P.T. tends to sour the mood for Silent Hill fans, as it was the playable teaser for the now-canceled Silent HillsP.T. was created by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro and published by Konami. Unfortunately, Kojima and Konami went separate ways in 2015, leaving a highly awaited game in video game purgatory.

P.T. is near impossible to get now after Konami pulled it from the PS Store. However, those who managed to download it to their systems can vouch that P.T. is a pretty intense horror video game. And although it’s only a few hours in length, P.T. has appeared on several scariest video games lists.
