Could the next Cheech and Chong project be a horror film? Apparently, it’s possible. Tommy Chong recently said he’s trying to write one.

How’s this for surprising news, Tommy Chong is trying to develop a Cheech and Chong horror movie, reports Movie Web. Chong is writing one because he feels like it is a rite of passage for every big comedy duo. He spoke with the publication while doing press for his new film, Color Out of Space (which also stars Nicolas Cage and has been receiving high praise from critics) based on an H.P. Lovecraft story.

While he’s not exactly confident that the project will ever actually get made, he stated that his influences were people like Abbott and Costello or Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Both duos released horror movies before retiring.

Ironically, Chong isn’t actually a big fan of the horror genre but he still wants to convince his partner to hop on board for an epic movie. He went on to say that “it’s a nice genre to play with, you can have a lot of fun with it. Like Get Out, I like that approach to it.”

Cheech and Chong are two halves of an iconic and popular comedy duo composed of Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong. The pair first came to fame back in the 1970s with comedy albums, stand-up routines, and their general love of cannabis.

The hype around the duo has died down over the last few decades but they still have a loyal subsection of fans out there.

Their last major film together was an animated feature released in 2013. Chong also competed on Fox’s singing reality competition show, The Masked Singer, during its first season.

Next. Walking Dead: World Beyond already has an endgame. dark
