15. Spring (2014)

Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead

Starring Lou Taylor Pucci and Nadia Hilker

No doubt some of you may have heard of this, but Spring is probably the most under-the-radar film on this list, though that doesn’t take away from the film in the slightest. Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the same directors who helmed The EndlessSpring tells the tale of an American tourist visiting Italy to clear his mind when he meets a strange Italian woman with whom he elopes, unaware of a dangerous secret she is hiding.

It’s the most I can spoil without giving everything away, but trust me when I say that Spring may surprise you, both with its shocking bouts of violence and the amount of heart still present in the film. Truly a tale of two opposites falling in love with each other, it truly feels like a strange European mix between The Shape of Water and The Fly and the film luckily still stands on its own as a unique romantic horror drama.

Maybe it’ll be a bit too indie for some of you, but it’s still worth a shot and certainly something that may restore your faith in love, even if just a tad.
