Christophe Gans, director of the 2006 Silent Hill, is developing a third movie in the overall film franchise. He’s also planning a Fatal Frame movie.

Silent Hill is a popular horror media franchise primarily revolving around a series of survival video games. The series has resulted in twelve video games total and two live-action films. Unfortunately, it has also been plagued by rumors and frequent cancellations, often leaving fans disappointed.

Perhaps one of the most disappointing cancellations was of Silent Hills, a game that was going to be created by horror masters Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.

In 2006, the gaming series was adapted into a movie directed by Christophe Gans. Despite receiving poor critical reviews, the movie is considered a cult success. Many fans even believe it’s a great example of how fantastic video game films can be if done right. The follow-up movie, Silent Hill: Revelation, was panned by audiences and critics and put a damper on the film franchise.

Now, Game Spot is reporting that Gans is planning to return to the franchise with a follow-up movie.  The good news is, Gans was not involved with Revelation whatsoever,  so there’s a good chance his new movie will be more in line with the 2006 film.

Not only that, but he is also planning on adapting the horror video game series, Fatal Frame, to the big screen.

About the new Silent Hill, Gans was reported saying:

"“The project will always be anchored in this atmosphere of a small American town, ravaged by Puritanism. I think it’s time to make a new one.”"

Right now, we don’t have any details about how this movie would fit into the overall timeline, nor when it could potentially go into pre-production. But it’s exciting news for fans of the horror franchise since no new content has been released since the 2012 game, Silent Hill: Downpour.

Next. Horror coming to streaming in February. dark
