Bruce Campbell in another iconic franchise? It’s true! The actor is the inspiration for a character in the Star Wars Legends Universe.

Bruce Campbell is known for his legendary portrayal of Ash Williams in the iconic Evil Dead franchise. Now, an astute Redditor in the Ash vs Evil Dead forum has unearthed the actor in the Star Wars Legends Universe.

Sounds like a fantasy, right? Well, it appears that Bruce’s portrayal of the chainsaw wielding Deadite slayer is the inspiration for a character in the Star Wars: Union comic. Who would have ever dreamed that fan favorite Campbell would be represented in George Lucas’ world?

Banner Sumptor is clearly the spitting image of the actor. There is no mistaking his familiar visage. If you don’t believe us, the proof is in the renderings which can be viewed here.

It is simply amazing when you juxtapose the character with real life photographs of Campbell as Ash Williams. According to Wookiepedia, the Star Wars Fandom Wiki, Sumptor was an Imperial soldier. Wait? He was part of the Dark Side?

Yes, but not for long. Apparently, Banner was going to sabotage Luke Skywalker’s wedding to Mara Jade. However, he questioned his assignment and ended up rescuing Luke from a certain demise.

Shortly thereafter, Sumptor received another directive to assassinate Mara Jade’s dressmaker, Jari’kyn. Needless to say, this Imperial soldier has a conscience and instead, he murders two of his compatriots and helps Jari’kyn to safety.

So, it sounds like Bruce’s alter ego turns out to be a noble man with decent intentions. Which comes as no surprise to his loyal fanbase.
