Women in horror: 13 best female characters on television
By Mads Lennon
12. Beverly Katz
Beverly Katz was an important character in the NBC drama, Hannibal. She worked as a crime scene investigator for the Behavioral Analysis Unit and became an ally of Will Graham. Unfortunately, Beverly was killed before the series was over.
Her death is one many fans are still upset over as they feel the writers didn’t have to kill off one of the few main women on the series. That said, she was brilliant and even managed to uncover Hannibal’s secret of being the Chesapeake Ripper.

11. Sabrina Spellman
The Sabrina Spellman we meet in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is much different than the version many of us grew up within Sabrina the Teenage Witch. By the end of season one, this version of Sabrina has signed her soul over to the Devil himself.
She practices dark magic, and the entire show has a distinctive horror vibe. It’s fitting, considering Sabrina is part of the Riverdale universe. If you watch the show and you’re all caught up, you even know that one version of Sabrina on the series is the current reigning queen of Hell.
10. Tara Thornton
Tara Thornton is a controversial character from True Blood. When the series was still airing, many people didn’t like her, but over the years, Tara has earned more respect from fans. Her character was treated pretty poorly by the writers.
She often got some of the worst storylines (Franklin, anyone?) and was even unceremoniously killed off before the show’s official ending, a death that still stings. But before that, when she was turned into a vampire and had a relationship with Pam, that’s when her character arc took off and made her a fan-favorite.
