Beginning on April 13, subscribers will be able to watch Quibi’s first horror series, The Stranger.

Though a handful of Quibi’s current offerings include intense thrillers such as Most Dangerous Game and When the Street Lights Go On, The Stranger looks to be full-on horror, judging by the hair-raising teaser trailer that was just released.

The Stranger was written and directed by Veena Sud, who developed the AMC series The Killing, which delved into the investigation of a murder in Seattle. Given the intensity of that series, we can probably expect The Stranger to put us at the edge of our seats and provide plenty of suspense.

The Stranger will introduce us to a rideshare driver named Clare (Maika Monroe), who picks up a male passenger (Dane DeHaan). What should be just another business transaction turns into a nightmare when the passenger (who claims to be a sociopath) stalks Clare relentlessly through Los Angeles.

As the trailer shows, at least one person tries to help her, but we don’t know yet how that ends. I am sure looking forward to finding out!

You may recognize Monroe from 2014’s riveting It Follows, in which she played the lead character of Jay. DeHaan starred in the 2016 psychological horror film A Cure For Wellness, so our leads definitely have some horror cred to back them up.

As with Quibi’s other offerings, The Stranger will be broken up into short chapters of ten minutes or so each, and will be specially formatted for viewing on a phone. If you haven’t subscribed to Quibi yet, you can still take advantage of their free 90-day trial and check out the shows currently available by visiting their website.
