Over the next month, Jamie Lee Curtis will host Lionsgate Live! A live YouTube broadcast of four of Lionsgate’s biggest hits.

Jamie Lee Curtis has been a horror icon since her breakthrough role in 1978’s Halloween. Lately, she’s been enjoying a return to the spotlight in the 2018 sequel to John Carpenter’s film, and Rian Johnson’s darkly comedic whodunit hit, Knives Out.

In an interesting turn of events sparked by the shuttering of movie theaters across the country, Curtis’ next appearance will be introducing four of Lionsgate’s most popular films on YouTube between now and May 8.

According to People:

"“[Lionsgate] will be debuting Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies on YouTube Friday, April 17. The initiative will be spread over the next month, featuring a new movie each week."

If there’s an actress who can encompass the extremes of a practical-minded bookworm and an enduring survivalist, it’s Curtis. She’s the type of ally we all could use during this time of quarantine, and the best audience surrogate we could ask for.

Per People, the impetus for this weekly film celebration is “to mimic the communal experience of going to the movies. [Curtis] will offer her own commentary and welcome other celebrity guests and YouTube personalities.”

The varied lineup of films has something to offer every viewer. Personally, I’m curious to see Curtis’ take on the balletic violence of Chad Stahelski’s unexpected 2014 hit, John Wick.

The schedule for Lionsgate Live! is as follows (all movies begin at 9pm EST):

  • April 17 – The Hunger Games
  • April 24 – Dirty Dancing
  • May 1 – La La Land
  • May 8 – John Wick

Lionsgate chairman Joe Drake said of the event: “This is a great chance to show the country’s theatrical employees how much we miss going to their theaters and how much we support them.”

Next. A Nightmare on Elm Street and the 25 greatest ’80s horror movies. dark

So pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and tune in here.
