The expendables of horror: JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales heads to Adult Swim

JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales premieres on Adult Swim on May 10 and stars Jennifer Tilly, Elvira, Robert Englund and more genre icons. This animated series is like The Expendables of Horror.

JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales is a darkly humorous animated series with a terrifying twist. Premiering on May 10 on Adult Swim, the Emmy award winning cartoonist is pulling out all the stops in his latest venture.

For years, fans of the horror genre have been wishing for an Expendables of Horror. Well, this fresh take on the Brothers Grimm is exactly what audiences have been craving. In fact, the cast reads like a Who’s Who of spooky superstars.

According to UPI, JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales has something for everyone. Major horror franchises are represented. You love A Nightmare on Elm Street? Guess what? Robert Englund supplies his voice to one of the episodes.

So, maybe you love Chucky and Child’s Play. Jennifer Tilly, who is no stranger to animation with her gig on Family Guy is on board as well as Catherine Hicks from the original 1988 film. Friday the 13th buffs have Corey Feldman and Robocop followers will be surprised when they hear Peter Weller.

The grand dame of horror, Elvira will be making an appearance and the head Cenobite himself, Doug Bradley has been summoned too. Oh, and did we mention, Ashley Laurence is along for the ride as well?

As for the fairy tales themselves, they are decidedly hilarious and surprisingly horrific. Imagine the Seven Dwarfs plotting Snow White’s demise with axes or Rapunzel uses her hair as a weapon. These are just some of the storylines to look forward to when JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales hits the airwaves.
