Color Out of Space and The Shed will be streaming on Shudder later this year. Get ready for Lovecraftian and vampire horror.

Color Out of Space, produced by SpectreVision and distributed by RLJE Films has been acquired by Shudder. According to Deadline, the Nicolas Cage starrer and Frank Sabatella’s vampire flick, The Shed are set to premiere on the streaming horror network later this year.

Nicolas Cage has been reinventing himself so to speak, transitioning from action and drama ventures to genre productions. Directed by Richard Stanley, Color Out of Space, is an inventive adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s short story of the same name. The Gardner family’s quiet life gets upended when a meteor crashes in their front yard hosting an extraterrestrial organism that infiltrates their minds and bodies.

Stanley’s version is just the latest interpretation of the macabre master’s works to hit the silver screen. Lovecraft’s tale has been adapted several times. Beginning in 1965 with Die, Monster, Die! followed by The Curse (1987) featuring Wil Wheaton, Colour from the Dark (2008) and The Colour Out of Space (Die Fabre) (2010).

Sabatella’s The Shed is an interesting take on the vampire trope. Two best friends, Stan and Dommer discover a Creature of the Night hiding out in a shed on Stan’s grandfather’s property.

Immediately, Stan decides that this blood sucking threat should be disposed of, however, Dommer has another idea. He proposes that they use the fiend to take care of their classmates that bully them at school. Think of the 1980 film, My Bodyguard with fangs.
