Sigourney Weaver recently admitted that she received a 50-page treatment for a new Ripley movie. But is the actress ready to fight Xenomorphs again?

Sigourney Weaver has an impressive career. She has been nominated for Academy Awards, Emmys and Tonys. However, she is probably most recognized for her work as Ripley in the Alien franchise.

The last time the actress portrayed her famous character on screen was in 1997. So, its understandable that whenever another installment of the Ridley Scott series would be announced, fans would wonder when they would get to see their favorite action heroine again.

Neill Blomkamp, the director of the brilliant District 9, wanted to offer his take on the iconic sci-fi legend. However, that was not to be since Scott decided to step back into the director’s chair for Alien: Covenant.  According to IMDb, there is an Alien Prequel in the works but no further information on the storyline.

Could Ripley return in some fashion? In the latest edition of Empire , Sigourney Weaver revealed that producer Walter Hill presented her with a 50-page treatment.

While the actress didn’t rule out a return to the world of Xenomorphs, she didn’t appear overly enthusiastic either. In her words, “Ridley has gone in a different direction.” Continuing on to infer that maybe it was time to give Ripley a rest.

Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Weaver has lost her fondness for the role that put her on the map. She cites Ripley as a “partner” and that she’s “always in my stomach.”

With the future of the franchise up in the air with parent company, Disney, it remains to be seen how the world of Alien proceeds. However, fans of Sigourney Weaver can see her in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife on March 5, 2021.
