Alfred Hitchcock fans, looks like Universal might be releasing the director’s 4K Collection in September. Here’s your chance to add classics like Psycho, Vertigo, The Birds and Rear Window to your personal libraries.

Alfred Hitchcock is the father of the slasher movie. Before Psycho hit screens in 1960, this type of horror film was unheard of. One could logically trace the beginnings of the subgenre to the Anthony Perkins’ starrer and echoes of this adaptation of Robert Bloch’s novel can be found in the original Black Christmas.

This classic chiller literally redefined the genre. Prior to Hitchcock’s groundbreaking masterpiece, the typical scary movie had monsters to frighten audiences like Frankenstein, Dracula or the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Psycho, on the other hand dealt with the demons that lived inside a young man’s head which made Norman Bates more terrifying than a gigantic tarantula or Godzilla. He was a killer that could be your next-door neighbor or your co-worker. It is that unknown factor that made this Hitchcock more sinister than ever.

Now, you can own this legendary work along with the director’s Vertigo, The Birds and Rear Window. According to The Digital Bits, Universal should be releasing the Alfred Hitchcock 4K Collection this September.

Currently, you can pre-order the 60th anniversary 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of Psycho at Best Buy. For $22.99, you can reserve your copy at this link.

The Alfred Hitchcock 4K Collection will be available in the U.K. and the U.S. Which is great news for those fans that don’t have any of the macabre master’s productions in their collections.
