It was another suspenseful episode of NOS4A2 as Maggie battled the evil Hourglass, Vic tried to fix her bike and Wayne started to change in the back seat of the Wraith.

NOS4A2 opened with the Hourglass beguiling a doctor at the hospital. The doc walked straight into Vic’s room and used a syringe to inject something into her IV bag. Luckily, Maggie is visiting and questions him, but he appears to not even hear her.

Maggie knows something is up, pulls the needle out of Vic’s arm and takes off after the doc. As soon as she gets to him, he sticks himself in the neck with the needle and dies.

She tells Tabitha all about it, and wants to use her tiles (which Tabitha is against); she says the doctor had no control of his actions. Tabs has trouble of her own, because her supervisor took her badge (maybe temporarily), due to the fact that she acted irresponsibly in going after Bing with no back up.

Linda visits Vic at the hospital, and threatens her with a psych evaluation when she starts talking about her “gift.” Later, Chris tells her he saw Vic almost take out a walking dead man who took Wayne, he knows she has a gift.

He says Linda never noticed Vic’s mystical powers because she was sidetracked by hiding bruises caused by him. NOS4A2 is doing a great job this season of sneaking in these very human moments without taking away from the story.

Vic visits Lou, who had a cardiac event at the lake house, and now has a stint in his heart. They have a sweet exchange, with Lou referring to them as Han and Leia, and it’s a nice, light moment in a show that is usually very serious. They plan to fix Vic’s bike so she can find Wayne before it’s too late.

Wayne is in the car with Charlie Manx, who is being his usual charming self; you know, insulting the kid’s mom and all. He encourages Wayne to call Vic on his cell phone, she doesn’t answer. Manx reminds him that Vic was never there for him.

Suddenly, there is someone else in the back seat with Wayne, it’s a burnt version of Craig, Wayne’s actual father, who was burned to death in the Wraith. He tell’s Wayne that Manx is a liar, Vic would do anything for Wayne, and she will save him. Manx knows something is up, but he can’t see Craig.

Maggie walks into a hotel bar, the lights flicker, and she notices the Hourglass sitting at the bar. He’s instantly drawn to her because he knows she is “exceptional”, just like him. He’s hitting on her hardcore, and she ends up taking out her bag of tiles, which she says will tell her anything about anyone. He can look, but not touch.

When she asks to see his knife, he pulls out the hourglass and tells her “Fate controls some outcomes, I control the rest.” He demonstrates on the bartender, convincing him to give him a bottle of his best bourbon for free. Every person with their gift suffers a cost, and the Hourglass suffered memory loss originally, before he learned how to bypass it.
