Shudder has announced its 61 Days of Halloween programming will begin on September 1st, giving horror lovers an extra month to celebrate.

Shudder, of course, always has plenty of spooky programming available, but September and October will be “super-sized” this year. That’s just what we need to conquer the boredom of extended quarantine time.

New Shudder Exclusives will include Color Out of Space (featuring Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson and Julian Hilliard) and Verotika, featuring Glenn Danzig in his directorial debut. Recently added Shudder Originals include Scare Me, Spiral, The Cleansing Hour, The Mortuary Collection, 32 Malasana Street and May the Devil Take You Too.

If that’s not quite enough to get you excited for an early Halloween, you can binge on the entire second season of NOS4A2, enjoy the Vincent Price Collection, snuggle up in front of The Ghoul Log (in its third year) and join Joe Bob Briggs, Darcy the Mail Girl and the rest of the Last Drive-In crew for a Halloween Special on October 23.

October will also bring the return of the Halloween Hotline, during which Shudder’s head curator Samuel Zimmerman will be giving callers his personalized recommendations for which movies they should watch. While not every call can be answered, Sam promises to get to as many as possible from 3:00-4:00 pm ET each Friday during the month.

Shudder General Manager Craig Engler also vowed to bring us a “big premiere” each week. Furthermore, “We’re going to finish October with a surprise that will have horror fans everywhere talking.”

The list of upcoming additions also made mention of an extra creepy surprise (possibly more than one) in the future. As viewers eagerly await the dark, delicious goodies to come in the next two months, we can only guess at what those “surprises” will be, but one thing is for sure: this Halloween season will be a real treat!
