The Mahoning Drive-In’s October horror events schedule
After a successful summer of screening classic horror and action fare, The Mahoning Drive-In’s October schedule is looking to end the season with a bang.
Brick-and-mortar movie theaters are slowly transitioning back to some semblance of normality. One of the major chains has been sending me emails with various promotions since they reopened several weeks back. That said, the immense parking lot of the one I pass by on a semi-regular basis only has a handful of cars on any given day. But the Mahoning Drive-In – nestled in scenic Lehighton, PA – is alive and well.
While all drive-ins are offering an incredibly important public service right now, the Mahoning has something a bit special going on: a partnership with Exhumed Films, an organization that has spent many years acquiring and exhibiting genre films in their original elements (no digital unless otherwise noted!).
Their Tunnel Vision Tuesday series started with a screening of Lamberto Bava’s Demons on July 7, and has gone on to showcase the likes of The Gates of Hell, Assault on Precinct 13 and Death Wish, among other noteworthy titles. As fall settles in and drive-in season winds down, the Mahoning is going out with a bang.
Below is a listing of the remaining Tunnel Vision Tuesday screenings:
- The Warriors (1979) – September 22
- Night of the Living Dead (1968) – September 29
- Full Contact (1992) – October 6
- Rosemary’s Baby (1968) – October 13
- The Hidden (1987) – October 20
- The Fog (1980) – October 27
If Tuesdays conflict with your schedule, fear not – there are plenty of other events destined to satisfy horror fans:
- Weekend of Terror V – September 25 – 27
- Night of the Demons (with Amelia Kinkade live) – October 4
- A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 (with cast in attendance) – October 8
- Freddy-Fest II – October 9 – 11
- Remake Double Take: The Thing – October 23 – 25
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre II & III (with Bill Moseley live) – November 1
If you go, be sure to check out the vendors’ tables (the fine folks at DiabolikDVD always hold down the physical-media fort!) and the thematic specialties offered at the concession stand.
