Dexter is returning to Showtime.  What can fans expect from the revival? Will certain cast members appear?

Dexter is back, baby. That’s right. The Bay Harbor Butcher is returning to Showtime for a limited series revival.

On a recent edition of The Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, via Cinema Blend, Clyde Phillips admitted that he knows fans weren’t exactly enamored with the original series’ final turn of events. He also stated that neither was Michael C. Hall.

However, just because they are aware that the finale wasn’t the best way to end the production, doesn’t mean that they are going to make up for it. This won’t be Season 9.

Basically, time has past and that will be reflected in the storyline. Some viewers believe that the plot might go the way of Bobby Ewing’s “It Was All a Dream” sequence on Dallas. However, they can be assured that won’t happen.

The writers are not going to resurrect Deb or anything of the sort. Of course, since the announcement was just made, no one has been cast yet so Hall and Phillips don’t have a clue as to who will return for cameos or what new actors will be attached to the project.

What we do know about Dexter is that Michael C. Hall had input into what would happen with his character and collaborated fully with Phillips. Their idea was enticing enough for the pair to agree to revisit the series.

Another tidbit to put followers at ease, the way the revival ends will be very different from the original finale. Plus, Dex will not be in his old stomping grounds of Miami, either.
