Jamie Lee Curtis is celebrating the horror holiday that made her name by hosting a virtual Halloween parade via her Instagram account.

Jamie Lee Curtis earned a permanent place in horror history with her performance as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s Halloween, and in the process became synonymous with the holiday itself. One can’t think of Michael Myers without also thinking of his almost-victim. Now, the actress looks to get into the fall spirit by hosting a virtual Halloween parade.

People offered the following details of the event, set to take place on Curtis’ Instagram:

"“To participate, record a vertical video showing off your creative costumes as you walk from left to right in the frame, pausing in the center to quickly showcase the outfit. Then, post the clip to Instagram Reels starting Friday and tag @CurtisLeeJamie for a chance to be featured. The full virtual parade will be posted on the movie star’s Instagram page on Saturday, Oct. 31.”"

When celebrities announce special events such as these, there is usually some behind-the-scenes force dictating the terms. However, in addition to it being a just-for-fun activity, the parade itself bears the moniker, “First Annual JLC Virtual Halloween Parade,” which suggests this idea is close to the actress’ heart.

As many communities look into alternative options for traditional door-to-door trick-or-treat, it’s refreshing to see Jamie Lee Curtis spearhead an event that will not only allow an easy outlet for people to get involved, but have a global reach thanks to the power of the Internet.

The actress has been back in the spotlight lately, with a turn in Knives Out, last year’s Agatha Christie-inspired whodunit. But horror fans rejoiced when she reprised Laurie in David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween reboot (which received the greenlight for two more sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends).

While COVID concerns pushed the release of Halloween Kills to 2021, Curtis is enthusiastic about reuniting with Kyle Richards. In another bit of franchise synchronicity, Richards played Lindsey Wallace, one of the children Laurie was responsible for in the ’78 film.

Curtis says this of her now-grownup co-star and her role in the upcoming film: “She is absolutely fantastic and so beautiful [and] gets very … distressed in this movie in every way.”

Sounds promising!
