CBS announces new stars for Clarice series: See who’s joining the cast
By Carla Davis
CBS has announced some of the actors appearing in Clarice, which is a sequel series to The Silence of the Lambs. Now, more talent has been announced.
Several of the actors who will be appearing in Clarice were announced earlier, and now we have a few more talented performers to add to the mix.
Set six months after the events in The Silence of the Lambs, Clarice will focus on the life and struggles of the film’s heroine Clarice Starling. Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman has assured viewers that Clarice will not be a procedural show.
Kurtzman feels that Clarice Starling’s back story, which was explored in The Silence of the Lambs, provides plenty of material to work with. When you add her involvement in the story of Buffalo Bill and her relationship with Hannibal Lecter, you have the potential for a great, intense series.
Rebecca Breeds (The Originals, Pretty Little Liars) has been cast in the title role, with Kal Penn (Designated Survivor), Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead), Nick Sandow (Orange Is the New Black), Lucca De Oliveira (SEAL Team, The Punisher) and Devyn A. Tyler (Fear the Walking Dead, Antebellum) all appearing as her FBI cohorts.
Now comes the news that Marnee Carpenter (Good Girls) will be playing Buffalo Bill’s last victim Catherine Martin. Catherine was the young woman who was held captive in the well before being saved by Starling, so it will be interesting to explore the relationship between the two women after the trauma they both suffered.
Other newly added performers include Jayne Atkinson (Criminal Minds, House of Cards) as Catherine’s mother Ruth, Shawn Doyle (Cardinal) as a Quantico therapist, and Tim Guinee (NOS4A2) as a militia group leader.
A premiere date has not yet been announced, and as we all know, there have been many hold ups to films and television series due to COVID, but it’s expected that we will probably see Clarice sometime in 2021.
With Hannibal, we have already had one series based on a character from The Silence of the Lambs, and it was excellent, so it should be exciting to see what Clarice has to offer us.
