Joe Bob Briggs announces double-feature special on Shudder, Joe Bob Saves Christmas
While fans may be missing The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, they will soon have a Christmas gift to tide them over until the series returns. On Friday, Dec. 11, Joe Bob and Darcy will be presenting Joe Bob Saves Christmas, another of their extremely popular double feature specials.
As of today, there has been no announcement regarding which two films will be shown, but we were given a hint last Friday. According to Joe Bob’s Twitter account, both films will feature “Santa worship, stalker Santas and Santas with weapons.”
Since there are several Christmas horror films currently streaming on Shudder, it’s not necessarily easy to pinpoint which deadly Santa flicks Joe Bob has chosen. Some possibilities include Deadly Games, Christmas Evil, Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 and A Christmas Horror Story.
**Side Note: My own dream duo would be Rare Exports (a Krampus-type story) and Deadly Games.
Yesterday, another announcement was made regarding Joe Bob Saves Christmas, in the form of a short video and a tweet. It seems that Joe Bob Briggs is really feeling the Christmas spirit this year, and will be holding an online auction of “cool horror artifacts.”
We don’t know yet what the items are, or which charity they will benefit, but we should find out during the show. Joe Bob joked that he may actually auction off his Santa hat during “The Last Drive-In Home Shopping Christmas Network’s” live auction.
Joe Bob Saves Christmas will be available to stream beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 11, exclusively on the Shudder TV feed in Canada and the US. It will be available on-demand as of Sunday, Dec.13, and the auction is expected to end on Dec. 21.
