Ginger Snaps horror trilogy being made into TV series

If you had any kind of horror childhood, then you knew exactly what Ginger Snaps was. It came out in 2000 as a little Canadian sleeper film, starring: Katharine Isabelle as Ginger Fitzgerald, Emily Perkins as Brigitte Fitzgerald, Kris Lemche as Sam, Jesse Moss as Jason, and Mimi Rodgers as Pamela Fitzgerald. Did we also mention that John freakin’ Fawcett directed it?

Not to mention, John technically discovered the brilliant Tatiana Maslany (Ghost) for the second Ginger Snaps film, who then went onto star in his series, Orphan Black.

Deadline broke in October, that the Ginger Snaps movies are officially being made into a television series, Fawcett being the executive producer himself. But that’s not all, Anna Ssemuyaba (Guerilla) will be writing this potential badass. Sid Gentle of (Killing Eve) is producing.

No word on casting, but both Katharine and Emily had a few things to say on the project to ET Canada.

Fun fact: Both the actresses reunited in 2008 for Another Cinderella Story, starring Selena Gomez and despite their morbidly obsessed sardonic roles as the Fitzgerald siblings, they instead portrayed rather popular, preppy ones here. Either way, we were psyched to see them back on screen together!

The story centers around two sisters in the town of Bailey Downs, Canada. Only problem? Ginger has a little bit of a problem–she was bitten by a werewolf and is becoming one. It’s symbolism for what we girls have to go through with our monthly friend, and also a teenager’s woes with boys and fitting in. In the end? Family is all that matters, even if you get–The Curse.

Since released, it has become a cult hit, inspiring fanart, cosplay, collectibles, and even a wicked rad blu-ray/poster set back in 2014 via Shout Factory (I have it. I pre-ordered that sucker, and I swiped it.)
