It looks like Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl will be bringing us another in their series of Shudder Last Drive-In holiday specials!

Joe Bob Briggs was a very popular movie host in the 1980s and 1990s, first with Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater on TMC, then TNT’s MonsterVision. MonsterVision was cancelled in 2000, and Briggs claimed that many people over the years approached him about bringing back his uniquely formatted show.

Joe Bob fans are very familiar with his movie summaries, tallying the dead bodies, naked breasts, “aardvarking” episodes, rolling body parts and the many types of “fu” included in the featured films. He always ends these tallies with his drive-in Academy Award nominations, a star rating and the phrase, “Joe Bob says check it out.”

Shudder put Joe Bob Briggs back on the map with his 13-film marathon The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs in July of 2018. The marathon included such films as Sleepaway Camp, Tourist Trap and Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, and to say it was a success would be an understatement.

The 24-hour marathon was so widely streamed that it crashed Shudder’s servers, and the horror streaming platform quickly picked up The Last Drive-In as a series. Joe Bob and Darcy the Mail Girl will be returning soon for their third season of double features, where we have been treated to films such as Wolf Cop, One Cut of the Dead and Shudder Original Scare Package.

Along the way, fans have also been treated to specials for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, with Joe Bob Saves Christmas being the most recent. Now comes a new holiday to celebrate Joe Bob-style, with the Joe Bob Put a Spell on You Valentine’s Special.

No announcements have been made yet regarding what films will be shown, but I am going out on a limb and predicting that one will be The Love Witch. It’s perfect material for The Last Drive-In, with its rich 1960’s Technicolor visuals and vintage storyline. It’s also already streaming on Shudder, although that’s not always a predictor; Scare Package had its world premier showing on season two of The Last Drive-In.

Joe Bob Put a Spell On You will premiere on Shudder Friday, February 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET, and will begin streaming on demand February 14. Don’t have a Shudder subscription? Head over to their website to receive a free 7-day trial.
