The March schedule for horror streaming platform Shudder is very intriguing, featuring a couple of German silent movies dating back to the 1920s, new original films each week, and a flick about a possessed pair of jeans.

March 1:

The Burning (Also available on Shudder CA) – This 1981 slasher gem was based on the Cropsey legend, and features a very young Jason Alexander. A camp caretaker is horribly burned when a group of campers plays a joke gone very wrong. Years later, the disfigured man seeks revenge.

Amityville II: The Possession (Also available in Canada) – When a troubled family moves into a house in Amityville, they are soon subjected to supernatural (and possibly demonic) activity. The family is loosely based on the real-life DeFeo family, who were all murdered by oldest son Ronald.

The Devils – Based on Aldous Huxley’s non-fiction book The Devils of Loudun, this film tells the story of Father Urbain Grandier in 17th-century France. Grandier was a Catholic priest who was accused of witchcraft. It is also the tale of a sexually repressed nun, Sister Jean des Anges.

March 4:

Lucky (Shudder Original, also available on Shudder UK, Shudder CA and Shudder ANZ) – Described as a “feminist slasher”, Lucky stars Brea Grant (who also wrote the film) as May, a married woman who seems to have it all. But, there is this one problem: every night, a man comes into her home and tries to kill her. No one else seems to even notice, so just what is going on here?

March 8:

Sword of God (Also available in Canada)- Set in the Dark Ages, Sword of God is the story of two men arriving in a pagan land. One is a priest, and the other is struggling to find a life worth living.

Edge of the Axe (Also available in UK and CA) – In this 1988 Spanish-American film, a masked axe murderer is on the loose in a Northern California town. Meanwhile, two computer nerds try to figure out the identity of the killer.

Vampyres (Also available on Shudder UK and CA) – This 1974 film features two female vampires in a lesbian relationship. The two lure male victims to their mansion in the countryside, where they have sex with them, then feed on them. Vampyres was initially released in the US with an X rating.

March 9:

Prey (Also available in Canada) – A young quadriplegic woman moves into a country home with her father and her service dog, Athos. When Athos becomes victim of an unknown disease, she finds she must protect herself from her protector.

Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (Also available in Canada, UK and ANZ) – Teenager Billy (Jimmy McNichol) is an orphan being raised by his Aunt Cheryl, who harbors incestuous feelings for him. When Cheryl stabs a man in the house, Billy is blamed for the murder. It just gets crazier from there, folks.
