7. Angela Bassett in Critters 4

Character played: Fran

You know Angela Bassett for some excellent roles, including the various characters she’s played on American Horror Story and currently Athena Grant on 9-1-1. However, there are a few roles you’ll have forgotten about, and some Bassett may want you to overlook. Critters 4 is possibly one of those movies.

The Critters sequels slowly got worse and worse. It’s not surprising that this fourth movie in the installment, which was filmed straight off the back of the third, has among the lowest ratings. In fact, you may have forgotten the movie even happened.

Bassett plays Fran, the pilot of the RSS Tesla in 2045. Of course, the critters (which were not allowed to be killed as it would make the alien race extinct) make their way onto the ship, which is bound for Earth. Fran is one of the characters who needs to fight against the creatures to prevent them getting back to the world they ended up coming from.

We do get to see Bassett’s earlier acting skills during the episode, which is certainly a positive from the movie. It’s also clear from her role in this why she’s become such a standout actress now and landed so many kickass roles. We can forgive her for this movie.
