3. Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th

Year of release: 1980

Character played: Jack Burrell

Like a lot of actors on this list, one of Kevin Bacon’s first roles was in a horror movie. He was actually in one of the biggest horror movies of all, and you’ve likely forgotten all about his part. He played Jack in the very first Friday the 13th movie.

Yes, we’re talking about the movie that kickstarted a huge franchise with Jason, the hockey mask-wearing serial killer. Only the first movie didn’t actually involve Jason doing the killings.

But what about Kevin Bacon? What was his role in this horror movie? He’s the boyfriend of Marcie Stanler and was hired to help renovate Camp Crystal Lake, which was getting ready to be reopened. Like so many actors in early horror movies, he didn’t make it to the end. Pamela Voorhees killed him with an arrow to the throat as she hid under his bed.

Bacon quickly moved on after this movie, although it’s not a bad movie to have on his resume. It was shortly after that he appeared in Guiding Light and then landed the lead in Footloose.

He would eventually end up in other horror movies, including Flatliners. Yes, the original version.
