1. Renée Zellweger in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

Year of release: 1994

Character played: Jenny

Wait, another Texas Chainsaw movie? There are so many of these horror movies, and this one actually has a few actors you’ll have forgotten about. Matthew McConaughey was in this movie. Yes, really!

I think the biggest surprise, though, is Renée Zellweger, considering she isn’t known a lot for her horror movies of the past.

This was the last movie of the original franchise of movies. It wasn’t until less than a decade later that there was an attempt to reboot the franchise with the Jessica Biel movie. However, let’s keep the focus on Zellweger’s version.

Jenny is the lead female of the movie. She’s the one that we focus on the most, rooting for her to survive the movie. There are a few times where she manages to escape but then ends up trusting the wrong people.

While it gives Zellweger a chance to do something different at a time when she was mostly doing the rom-com scene, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation follows a lot of tropes and has a lot of flaws. It’s pretty predictable throughout. However, it’s something to watch when you want to see actors do different things.
