21. Nick Carter in Edward Scissorhands
Year of release: 1990
Character played: A kid in the street
Wait, Nick Carter from The Backstreet Boys was in Edward Scissorhands? This is something I’ve known since I was a kid, but then, I was utterly obsessed with The Backstreet Boys (and mostly Nick Carter) when I was a 14-year-old girl. So, my straight BSB knowledge probably isn’t that strange.
When I mentioned it to my husband, he had no idea. And the majority of people don’t. Part of that is because Nick Carter isn’t credited for any role at all in Edward Scissorhands.
That doesn’t mean he’s not in the movie!
He’s actually one of the neighborhood kids around the start of the movie. This really is one of those blink-and-you-miss-it sort of things, especially since he has his back turned to the camera the entire time.
When Edward is being driven home the first time, there’s a young, blond-haired kid in blue swimming trunks running up the street. That is Nick Carter.
And yes, Carter counts as an actor, and not just because he had that reality show House of Carter. He was credited in an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, in a few episodes of 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and was also the lead in The Hollow opposite Kaley Cuoco.
