Horror movies you won’t want to watch alone: 8. The Uninvited

Are you looking for a psychological horror movie that will leave you more than just unsettled? Then you need to watch The Uninvited, but not alone.

After being released from a psychiatric institution following what is said to be a suicide attempt, Anna returns home to her father, his new girlfriend, and her sister Alex. However, this is not a happy homecoming.

Unhappy with their father’s girlfriend, the two sisters stand together in an effort to stop the relationship, especially considering she is the former nurse for their sick mother who passed away. It seems that the father was sleeping with the nurse while the mother was still alive, and the sisters are not happy with this at all.

Anna starts seeing visions of her deceased mother and believes this is a sign, however, things start happening including her boyfriend turning up dead after he was supposed to meet up with her, which leads down a trail of horror and pain that is truly twisted.

The movie delivers on its promise of being a psychological horror, but what it does is it creates a story that actually delivers on plot and substance. It may not be top-tier horror, but it is still a twisted ride that will leave you in shock. (I never saw the ending coming at all.)

It is all about the imagery with The Uninvited, over shock and awe. And that makes this worth watching with someone at your side.
