Lisey’s Story, an adaption of the best-selling Stephen King novel of the same name, is finally coming to Apple TV+ soon. According to TVLine, the upcoming series is officially set to premiere on Friday, June 4 with the first two episodes.
As is usually the case with Apple TV+ shows, Lisey’s Story will continue with one episode released per week after that. The first season consists of eight episodes in total, so after the first week’s debut, it will continue for six weeks after.
Stephen King wrote all eight episodes of the series to adapt his novel. This will be the first project King has written based on his own works since the 2016 film Cell.
Lisey’s Story will premiere in early June on Apple TV+
Starring Julianne Moore and Clive Owen, Lisey’s Story is described as “a deeply personal thriller.” The story follows Lisey Landon (Moore) in the years following the death of her husband Scott Landon (Owen).
She’ll be forced to face “a series of unsettling events” that cause her “to face memories of her marriage to Scott that she has deliberately blocked out of her mind.”
Apart from Moore and Owen the series also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Joan Allen, Dane DeHaan, Ron Cephas Jones and Sung Kang.
If you haven’t read the book yet, no need to worry. This isn’t the case where you need to read the book before you watch the show, although many people loved the novel so if you do want to read it before the premiere you’ve got almost two months to do so before it releases!
The fact that it is adapted by King from his own story should indicate that the most important parts of the book will be included and since it’s eight episodes based on one book, I imagine it’ll be a fairly accurate adaptation if you decide to skip the book altogether.
