We’re only a few days away from the theatrical and IMAX release of the brand new Saw movie, Spiral, starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, but the new clips and details are still incoming!

Today, the official Spiral account and Lionsgate decided to release the official opening scene for the film which includes the brutal torture and death of Detective Marv Boswick (Dan Petronijevic). We already knew that Bos would be the first cop to die as it was pretty much spelled out in the trailer and other clips leading up to the movie’s release.

Even the photos hinted that he would be massacred by a subway train, but the clip is far more brutal than I could have imagined! It seems this new film isn’t going to waste any time getting straight into the classic Saw traps and gore we’ve become accustomed to throughout the eight-film (now nine) franchise.

In the newly-released footage, Bos follows someone down into an abandoned underground subway station. But whoever he’s chasing is long gone by the time he gets there. Instead, the new Jigsaw uses a mannequin on a chair to lure Bos into a trap, kidnapping him seconds after with a bag around his face. Immediately we get to see the new pig mask and Jigsaw cloak, which is exciting.

Spiral opening: Bos must choose between ripping out his tongue or getting ‘railroaded’

From there, Bos wakes up in a terrifying trap with his tongue inside of a device. Jigsaw appears on a nearby television screen, “I want to play a game.” The killer is after Bos because he has “taken the stand many times and railroaded innocent people many times, putting them in jail. Today, it is you who will be railroaded.”

Bos can either tear his tongue from his mouth, “the tongue that has so often been used for deceit,” and be free or he can just let himself get hit by the oncoming train. I’m guessing you can imagine what happens next, but you’ll have to watch the scene below to find out for sure!
