This weekend, the Apple TV+ adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Lisey’s Story is officially premiering with the first two episodes of the season. The new show is based on the 2006 novel of the same name and King actually wrote the show’s first season.
The story follows a widow, Lisey Landon, grieving the loss of her husband when she starts being harassed by a dangerous stalker who is obsessed with her late husband’s work. A psychological horror show at its core, Lisey must deal with threats from the raving madman Jim Dooley (Dane DeHaan) while trying to understand messages left from her husband beyond the grave.
Apart from Moore and DeHaan, the show also stars Clive Owen, Joan Allen, Sung Kang, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Ron Cephas Jones.
Moore recently chatted with TVLine about the show to preview what fans can anticipate from the first season. According to the Academy Award-winning actress, she went straight to King to discuss the material right after she chose to sign on to the series.
She told the outlet that King was very “wonderful and welcoming and excited.” He drew from real-life inspiration when telling the story.
"“He had been very ill and close to death but recovered, and when he came home, he found out that his wife had cleaned out his office, so it made him feel like he didn’t even exist in that world anymore. So that was his inspiration for the story: ‘What would happen if I suddenly disappeared from my own life?’”"
When and where can you watch the Lisey’s Story premiere?
