SYFY scheduled Pride of Chucky, ‘Child’s Play’ movie marathon in honor of Pride Month

Nothing screams gay pride like Chucky! SYFY has planned a big “Pride of Chucky” movie marathon that will officially kick off tomorrow on the network. The all-day Child’s Play spectacular begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. ET and spill over into Thursday, June 10.

The special marathon plans to call attention to the horror series’ LGBTQ+ elements while serving up some big summer scares. Of course, the marathon actually more than one purpose since the network is also debuting a brand new Chucky television series set to debut this fall. Original Child’s Play mastermind Don Mancini is returning to the well-loved horror franchise.

Mancini himself announced the marathon news on his Twitter with a SYFY-exclusive video about how the franchise has transformed over the years into a LGBTQ+-friendly space, saying that as of Bride of Chucky, he “started to deliberately inject some LGBTQ elements into the franchise. As a gay guy, it’s something that’s increasingly important to me.”

Jennifer Tilly, who voices fan-favorite character Tiffany, echoed Mancini’s sentiments, adding that she had always believed the “Chucky” movies were gay-friendly.

Longtime series star Jennifer Tilly, who voices fan-favorite character Tiffany, agreed and said, “I think a lot of the ‘Chucky’ movies have been very gay friendly.”

All of this murder and mayhem is a great way to start your summer and prepare for the new television show, which will see the iconic murder doll in an idyllic small town where he begins wreaking havoc on its residents.

SYFY’s “The Pride of Chucky” marathon starts Wednesday, June 9, at 8 a.m. ET and runs all day. SYFY and USA’s Chucky premieres this fall.
