As another television season comes to an end we’re hit with yet another wave of genre shows being the first to get axed on networks like CBS, NBC and Fox. From NBC’s twisty thriller Manifest and musical Comedy Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist to CBS’ Silence of the Lambs sequel series Clarice, networks just aren’t willing to give shows that aren’t basic procedurals a real chance. But no show has a more dedicated fanbase than Prodigal Son, as thousands of fans are still campaigning daily for Prodigal Son Season 3.

While the show is billed as a procedural drama, it quickly evolved into more than that and has become a compelling, well-acted, and gripping serial killer thriller that ran for just two seasons on Fox before the network decided to pull the plug in May.

Prodigal Son Season 3: Fans have created an impressive campaign to save the show

Since then, fans have rallied their support for the show, which follows a criminal psychologist who helps the NYPD stop killers. Of course, there is a twist on this format as the main character Malcolm Bright is the son of the infamous serial killer Martin Whitly.

The show has generated a Change.org petition that is quickly veering an astounding 50,000 signatures calling for the show to be saved by another network or streaming service.

The petition reads:

"“Prodigal Son” has shown us that it can stand on its own in storytelling and without the need to rip stories from the headlines to keep its fanbase engaged-fans who are willing to do what it takes to get more seasons, but that FOX never allows a program to thrive before cancelling it is truly disheartening."

Fans have even launched a website dedicated to the #SaveProdigalSon campaign with hopes that Fox will reverse their decision to cancel the series or let it go to another network. Right now, we still don’t know if Prodigal Son Season 3 will happen as there hasn’t been any news regarding an official pick-up, but fans are definitely not letting the show go without a fight.
