4. Celebrity Ghost Stories
Celebs, they really are just like us. Ghosts don’t discriminate when it comes to haunting people, which is why paranormal reality series Celebrity Ghost Stories has been running since 2009, despite channel hopping multiple times. Now airing on A&E, this horror reality TV show has seen everyone from Carrie Fisher to Regis Philbin stop by and share their own personal paranormal encounters.
There is something quite humbling and down-to-earth about watching a celebrity explain a brush with the supernatural. It’s fun to listen to people we relate to and watch in films and television admit that they, too, believe in the otherworldly. The show was also popular enough to garner a spinoff called The Haunting Of that sees celebrities revisit locations where they were once haunted.
3. Unsolved Mysteries
Unsolved Mysteries might not technically be considered a horror reality TV series since it is a more traditional documentary-style series. Still, it has enough frightening tales and eerie coincidences to leave you with chills. Plus, the series frequently investigated paranormal phenomena alongside cold cases and other true crime stories, so I feel it should count.
Similar to other shows on this list, Unsolved Mysteries jumped channels several times, starting on NBC and most recently airing on Netflix. Altogether, Unsolved Mysteries has aired an astounding 593 episodes across 15 seasons, which is pretty darn impressive. The newest version on Netflix has proven that the show is just as popular, if not more so, as people become increasingly obsessed with exploring all the world’s unknowns.
