Kentucky: Pegasus

When you look at what the state of Kentucky is known for, there are a few things that come to mind quickly. Among the top two things that the state is known for are Bourbon and Horse Racing. And it is definitely the horse racing that makes the state of Kentucky so popular for so many.

So is it any wonder that when looking for the perfect creature to represent the state, we didn’t have to look very far? Among the many mythical creatures that have stood the test of time and popularity, it is hard to overlook the magical Pegasus!

It honestly feels like the Pegasus is the ultimate creature for the state of Kentucky, after all, it is a winged horse known for its speed and ability to serve its masters. In fact, Pegasus is said to have lived in Zeus’ stables for many years and even served as the creature to pull the god’s chariot.

Thanks to his long years of service, Pegasus was rewarded by Zeus with a place among the stars. This is why we can see him in the stars today (although in this case, we are searching the constellations).

When it comes to symbols of a state, Pegasus feels like a perfect fit for Kentucky, whether we are looking at his speed, his service to others, or even his eventual place among the stars. All in all, the Pegasus is perhaps the only magical creature to be a perfect fit for the Commonwealth!
