Alabama: Cyclops

The state of Alabama is known for a number of things, from its sweet tea and southern hospitality to its natural resources, which include steel and iron. And it is truly their natural resources that inspired their current monster representative.

So what is this mythical monster? It is the cyclops of course! In ancient Greek mythology, the Cyclops were a race of giant creatures with a single eye. A distinctive feature that was hard to miss and made them look fierce in battle. But what exactly is the Cyclops known for?

According to mythology, the Cyclops were metal workers and blacksmiths who were known for creating some impressive pieces for the gods themselves. In fact, not only did they make the trident Poseidon carried, but they also crafted the thunderbolts that Zeus was known to throw down from Mount Olympus.

While a giant of any type might not seem like the perfect fit for Alabama, their abilities with metal makes the state a perfect fit since the state is known for their metals. Honestly, it just feels like a perfect fit for these creatures considering their job and even the beings that they worked for.

Cyclops are hard to miss and gifted in the ways of iron and steel, so it feels like a perfect fit all around.
