Minnesota: Wendigo

An American Urban Legend, the Wendigo, which is also called the Windigo, is an evil spirit known for having a taste for human flesh. And according to Only in Your State, it seems that this is a legend that is prevalent in the state of Minnesota.

In fact, it seems that this creature, known for prowling in the thick forests of the state is a huge presence in the state (both literally and figuratively since they have been said to get as tall as 15 feet!). Whether they are shown as skinny, gangly creatures with long fangs and sharp claws, or as thicker creatures in line with a werewolf, they are always huge creatures with less than pleasant intentions.

Considering the Wendigo is already a known presence in the state of Minnesota, it once again makes sense to leave things be and allowing the monster of the forest to reign supreme. And with their evil intentions, we don’t exactly want to evict them because we don’t want the Wendigo coming after us.

With many sightings of the Wendigo over the years, particularly in the bitter cold of winter, it is likely that anyone who has seen the creature did so from a distance since they lived to tell the tale. Because with this history and those features, plus his pension for the flesh, I doubt anyone who came across the Wendigo up close and personal lived to share the news.
