Missouri: Momo

In Missouri, there is a legend about a creature known as Momo. It turns out that Momo is short for the Missouri Monster, and it is a similar creature to that of the Yeti or Sasquatch. So when it came time to represent the state, it just made sense to go with Bigfoot (which is also known as the Sasquatch).

Much like the Yeti, Bigfoot is known to wander the wilderness, popping up briefly, only to disappear when people spot him. The Bigfoot is a bit of a misnomer, as their feet are likely proportional to their furry bodies. Instead, it is just the fact that their feet are said to be larger than ours that seems to be the real reason for their name.

No matter how Bigfoot got his name, it is clear that he is a perfect fit for the state of Missouri, especially since it sounds like he has a cousin roaming the state already. And whether Momo is actually a Bigfoot or not, it doesn’t matter, because in this case, it is all about or favorite, a hard-to-find creature of the woods.

Since Bigfoot is either shy or just determined not to be a zoo exhibit, it makes sense that he stays out of sight whenever possible. And in Missouri, it seems like he is the perfect monster representative (at least at this time).
