Louisiana: Loup Garou
While there are actually a ton of monsters that could represent the state of Louisiana, (and believe me I thought long and hard about it being a vampire) it is truly the Loup Garou also known as the Rougarou that seems like the most iconic monster of the state.
And much like in other cases (Pepie, Chessie, etc.), it just makes sense to leave such an iconic monster as the representative of its state. Louisiana is known for some scary tales, fascinating creatures, and legends beyond compare, but it is the Loup Garou that stands above the rest.
The Loup Garou is similar to a werewolf, but as they say, with a more Cajun flare. He has the body of a man and the head of a wolf. He is vicious and deadly. His teeth are said to be so sharp that he can tear through flesh with ease. And his story is one that is so iconic, that he even appeared in the CW’s Supernatural!
These creatures are said to lurk in the swamps of the state and they have a real taste for human flesh, making them dangerous in many ways. The last thing you want is to come face to face with a Loup Garou because if you do, it is unlikely that you would walk away. And since they are willing to hunt, there is no way that they would let you leave once they have you in their sights.
Forget the werewolf, the Loup Garou is where it is at. At least in the state of Louisiana, that is.
