Connecticut: Kraken

We could sit here and talk about how Connecticut is a state of firsts or that it is a place known for being steady and even influential in the government, but that seems boring. So instead, we are focusing on some specific facts. Considering it has a coastline and it is the home of the iconic Mystic Aquarium, it might also make sense that it was the home of the first nuclear-powered submarine.

So what does all of that have to do with which mythical monster or creature should be representing the state? Well, considering we are making the Kraken the monster of the state, we have to set the stage for why this sea monster is the ultimate creature for the state of Connecticut.

Looking at the Kraken is like looking at the Giant Squid made even bigger. Described with a “beaklike mouth” and “mighty tentacles,” this creature is truly a monster of the deep, who was known for terrorizing sailors. If the Kraken is truly as large as he has been described, one would think he could easily engulf the entire state if he so desired. But really, the Kraken is probably just chilling off the coast of Connecticut, protecting the shores of the state and waiting for unsuspecting sailors messing with his waters to strike.

Is he still causing problems? Not so much, but that doesn’t mean he can’t if provoked. So maybe don’t annoy him and stay out of his waters.
