Pennsylvania: Double-Headed Eagle

When you look at the history of Pennsylvania, what it means in terms of the history of the United States, and its own symbols and symbolism, does it come as any surprise that the magical creature we have paired with the state is a Double-headed Eagle?

With the eagle itself being a symbol of the United States, it feels like Pennsylvania, which is known as the keystone state for its role in the building of our country, deserves a creature that takes the eagle to the next level. And what better way to do that than with an eagle with two heads? Seems legit to me!

But what is it about the Double-headed Eagle that makes it a perfect fit for Pennsylvania? Not only is it an enduring symbol of many countries around the world, but it is said to take all of the qualities of the eagle, such as its strength, fearlessness, tenaciousness, and even vitality, and doubles it. (Makes sense since it has two heads.)

And while that may seem like a cop-out in terms of monsters, can you imagine having a Double-headed Eagle flying at you? I don’t know about you, but I am not sticking around to figure out what he wants from me. (I barely want a regular eagle flying at my head, but here we are.)
