We’re used to medical dramas being romantic, uplifting, and sometimes heartbreaking, but usually, they’re not about true crime nor do they typically fit comfortably in the thriller genre. The upcoming series, based on the podcast of the same name, is a fictional retelling of  Christopher Duntsch, a Texas surgeon who was convicted of gross malpractice. Throughout his reign of surgical terror, Duntsch seriously maimed and injured 31 patients and at least two died on his operating table.

The real Duntsch is currently imprisoned with a sentence of life imprisonment. His earliest chance at parole won’t be until 2045, but you can trust he’ll never be allowed near a scalpel again.
