Old: Where can you stream M. Night Shymalan’s new movie?
By Mads Lennon
M. Night Shyamalan is back with a new horror film, and many fans are wondering where to watch Old (2021). Can you view the film at home?
Where to watch Old: Is it on Netflix?
Right now, Old is not available to watch on Netflix. Netflix has a deal with Universal Pictures to stream the studio’s animated movies from Illumination Studios.
Where to watch Old: Is it streaming on HBO Max?
No, you cannot watch the latest Shyamalan twist unfold on HBO Max. However, in the future, this is the most likely streaming home for the movie due to Universal’s deal with the streaming service. Their movies go to HBO Max approximately nine months after making a theatrical debut.
Can you watch Old at home?
Unfortunately, the only way to see Old right now is if you go to the theaters. If you’re not able to do that in your area or you don’t feel safe enough amid the pandemic, you’ll have to wait for the film to release on streaming or VOD platforms.
When will Old come to streaming?
The good news is that movies are releasing digitally and on Blu-ray faster than ever these days. Old will probably arrive on digital platforms within three months from now, so you should have the chance to at least rent or purchase the movie by late September or October, potentially even sooner.
As for when/if the film will eventually come to a streaming service, HBO Max has been streaming Universal movies about nine months after they arrive in cinemas. That said, the deal expires at the end of the year. Old wouldn’t come to HBO Max until March or April 2022. But there is a chance NBC might move it to Peacock as they recently released several other Shymalan films on the streaming platform so Old would fit right in there.
Old is now playing in theaters nationwide.
