17. The Polk Family American Horror Story: Roanoke

While everyone has their favorite season of American Horror Story (and their least favorite), it is rare that I hear Roanoke at the top of anyone’s list. The potential was there, but the horror was missing in a lot of ways.

But then we met the Polk Family. And if you want horror and villains, then you have that here. Considering what this family is all about, they have to be on the list as a villain in their own right. Forget torturing people, they were literally killing people and eating them. And sometimes, they weren’t even killing them first.

The fact that this was not just a single killer, but an entire family makes it all feel just that little bit worse. This is especially true when you consider that they were responsible for killing, maiming, and of course eating multiple people, and that includes one person who it seems was able to avoid the whole death part of that equation.

As a family of cannibals, it just makes sense that they would be villains in this particular season of AHS. Seeing them in action was not just brutal, but it was horrifying. In many ways, they were the true horror of the season and they gave it a sense of awfulness that seemed to be missing.

There may be multiple members of this family, but as a whole they were truly awful villains!
