15. Twisty the Clown American Horror Story: Freak Show

Twisty the Clown is the thing of nightmares. And while he is a horrific character, his story is one of pain and suffering that leads him to murder and other awful acts. Basically, he has a tragic backstory that leads him down this villainous path.

But the fact that he is also a bit of a horror in a second season (AHS: Cult specifically), just solidifies his presence on this list. So what exactly is it that makes Twisty the Clown so much of a villain in the AHS universe?

Over the course of a number of episodes, we watch as Twisty murders people in their homes or places of business brutally and kidnaps children. The children are an attempt to reclaim his clown crown, but he isn’t fun or funny. He is deranged and terrifying.

And in his murderous sprees, he even takes on a protege, Dandy Mott himself. (And yes, Dandy gets his own place on this list!)

He may have been run out of the circus and even tried to kill himself, leading to the whole disgusting teeth/face/mask thing, but he was still a villain and a murderer and a kidnapper. Basically, he was just awful.
