13. The Butcher American Horror Story: Roanoke

When it comes to horror movie icons, Kathy Bates absolutely makes the list. And in American Horror Story: Roanoke, we get an entirely new horror icon in Bates, but this time as The Butcher.

So who or what is The Butcher? Well, it seems that she is a ghost. And not just any ghost. She is the leader of the ghosts that seem to live within the walls and on the grounds of the Roanoke plantation.

When it comes to her villainy, she is responsible for some very graphic murders and of course for any number of gruesome moments. And she seems to do it with glee.

During the Blood Moon, she and her fellow ghosts/spirits seem to be especially powerful and dangerous. And considering she is murdering people on the same lands as the Polk family, it is hard to deny that she is pretty awful.

The fact that she seems to take pleasure in terrorizing others and also in murdering them and leading other spirits on a journey of murder and mayhem just makes her a truly awful person (can you say person when I am pretty sure she is a deadly spirit?). And yes, that is also why she is pretty high up on our list of the worst or maybe it is the greatest villains in the AHS universe.
