8. John Lowe American Horror Story: Hotel

In American Horror Story: Hotel, there are actually quite a few villains. And towards the top of our list, we have to include John Lowe.

A former detective investigating what is being called the Ten Commandments Killer, we learn over the course of the season that he is in fact the killer. And while he has dealt with plenty of tragedy, including the loss of his young son (kidnapped and turned into a vampire by the Countess), that does not negate the fact that he ends up being a villain.

He is a murderer who cruelly and viciously kills people. Although the people he kills are apparently not following the commandments for which he uses to kill them, it doesn’t matter. That doesn’t make it right, since it also proves that he is a hypocrite.

The fact that he also befriends other murderers and learns from them certainly helps cement him as a villain in this season. Add in the fact that he basically abandons his family (his wife and daughter), kills more people, has a general contempt for criminals and even his own wife, and is just generally off his rocker by the end of Hotel, and you have a guy who maybe shouldn’t have been allowed to spend so much time in the Hotel Cortez.
