6. Stanley American Horror Story: Freak Show

When money is your primary motivation, it leaves you open to being a villain. And considering Stanley’s drive for money left him without remorse for his actions is proof that he is truly one of the better villains of the American Horror Story universe.

Stanley is as much a murderer as he is a puppet master. He is a con artist at heart and he will threaten, lie, and manipulate to get what he wants. And what he wants is a fortune.

Not only does he cut off Jimmy’s (Lobster Boy) hands, but he is directly responsible for the death of the much loved Ma Petite. He threatens and manipulates people at the Freak Show to sell them off to the American Morbidity Museum.

At times, it seems like he is as much a psychopath as any other villain in American Horror Story, but at others, he is less psychopath and more sociopath. Either way, Stanley is a major cause of the destruction of Elsa Mars and her Freak Show. He does not care who he hurts or who dies as long as he gets what he wants.

And at the end of the day (or season), it is clear that he has no remorse, so when the freaks of the Freak Show seek out punishment, it is hard to deny that it wasn’t much deserved. (Especially since they do not actually kill him, just maim him.)
