24. Bloody Face American Horror Story: Asylum

When it comes to the second season of American Horror Story, it’s a very unusual season. There are aliens, an asylum, Nazi hunters, and so much more. Seriously, this season is overrun with storylines that are both tragic and horrific.

But when it comes to one of the great villains of the series, this is where we meet Bloody Face. Played by Zachary Quinto, the character is a doctor, which makes sense when you consider that he has a fascination with cutting off people’s skin and faces.

He is both terrifying because of what he does and fascinating because he is able to hide in plain sight. He uses his position in order to get what he wants and it often includes death and murder. But as a villain, he is also horrifying in his needs and desires. It doesn’t feel like there are any redeeming qualities to Bloody Face, and yet he is still not one of the more horrific villains.

Part of the reason Bloody Face doesn’t end up higher on the list might have something to do with the season he shows up in. There are so many other things to focus on that at times he gets lost in the mix. And if you get lost in the mix of your season as the villain, it kind of knocks you down a peg or two, but considering the horror of using skin for a mask and lamps and stuff, he still earns a place on the greatest villains list.
