18. The Axeman American Horror Story: Coven

Just like with Delphine LaLaurie, The Axeman on AHS: Coven, is based on an actual serial killer from New Orleans. In history, The Axeman committed a series of murders from 1918 to 1919 that remain unsolved.

However, in Coven, this murder was very much like the individual he was based upon. But in the series, he had a much deeper background. He was a jazz musician in New Orleans who confessed to murders and was actually killed in the school where the coven resides. His ghost is trapped in the school, even though it seems that the witches didn’t know this until he was summoned with a Ouija board.

After being summoned, he is able to threaten the girls of the academy and even seduces Fiona. He is still a murderer, even after death, and in general, he is awful. As you would expect from a serial killer.

In death, he continues his murderous sprees, including killing people for Fiona in an effort to give her what she wants. And even though she is sick and dying, she still has power and a will to survive that leads to these two partnering up for their own killings and evil shenanigans.

Maybe it is the fact that he is based on a real-life serial killer or the fact that he goes on murderous sprees in life and in death, but either way, The Axeman is definitely a great villain of the AHS universe.
